The pressure on parents today to make the right choice regarding the education of their children is ever present. The central concern of course, focuses primarily on whether their children will be happy and if they will be given enough opportunity to succeed.
We know at first hand how important it is for pupils to be happy and to feel secure at school. We also know that every girl and boy has different strengths and weaknesses; different needs and preferences. Our expertise enables us to ensure that the school responds to the needs of the child.
Charlton House, the junior department of St Mary’s College, offers everything to stimulate the developing child: the right atmosphere for growing minds, small class sizes, a well-equipped music room, plus up-to-date computer facilities. An emphasis is placed on both English and Numeracy, through the appreciation and use of English and the understanding and enjoyment of arithmetic. We believe in separate subject teaching, so History, Geography, Music, Technology, Science, Art and Craft, and Religion all form part of our core curriculum. Children enjoy specialist teachers for Music, French, PE/Games and swimming for upper juniors.
